Just about a month till my coursework and exam work is due in words can't explain how much I can't wait till its over !!!! Coursework needs some little tweeks here and there but its pretty much done, as for my exam i'm coping with annotation alot better plus my work has more direction. I have my final piece idea now so working towards it should be the wasy part, only a few more artist responses and a couple of my own shoots to do :D. (yes another rant on work with awful use of english ) :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Took some awesome new pictures as a response to Elinor Carruci I can't put them up just yet but they are very nice :D

Finally getting through the piles of work I have to do coursework is coming along now, redoing my final piece and printing of some extra pieces and it should be fine. Exam work is going ok it'll come together eventually and media coursework is a pain but will be over this time next week ^_^.

Due to my annotation needing expanding on and my project taking to drastic a leap from looking at others identity to my own for a final idea amongst a few other little things, my preliminary coursework grade was marked at a C predicted a B. This annoyed me somewhat which must have shown through my excessive nodding and agreeing with the my teacher as they encouraged me that my photos were at an A grade but my annotation was letting me down. This was a consolation prize that was irrelevant due to the fact that my analysis and explanation did not match my work. I couldn't help feeling useless because if this was a final mark I would be devastated that the one thing I excel at when assessed rates me at a below average. The changes I have to make won't take too much effort but at this point I need motivation and confidence for my new project not a harsh truth about my last one. Anger won't help, Indulgence won't help but adhering to these things is just going to eat at me and feel unfulfilled in the end.... whats the answer ??????

well the deadline for my A2 coursework is in about a week and I am feeling much more confident about my body of work of work as always I need more practical responses as I usually just experiment on photoshop and apart from that bulking up on my annotation. For final piece ideas I am unsure of what to create but I want to incorporate a questionmark symbol and maybe some of the stronger pieces from my course work mixed with a self portrait series/shot questioning my own identity. Media exam is in 2 days and I'm feeling a hell of alot more prepared than I was haha I decided to choose the essay which i was least confident with and try and write it which initially was horrible but after some research and hours staring at the computer screen I managed to pull out a good essay. Uni stuff.... I have an interview in manchester during the first week of febuary and i have posted the mini project that falmouth set me so 'll nearly be at the point where i can confirm my offers etc. Life stuff... well lets jus say it likes to keep me guessing xD

Here I used smoke from boring a boiling kettle into a sink of water as a background for a portrait of my sister then added in a colour gradient and contrast to create the silhouette.

Well its finally come to it 5 years later and i'm at the point where uni is just round the corner excited would be a massive understatement haha. Without writing an essay i've been looking forward to going to uni for about 3 years now and since then i've completed GCSES doing my final A-Level exams currently and have offers from my top 3 choices. Even though its not like I will be leaving home tomorow i'm so close to the end its hard to stop thinking about everything that is ahead of me. I guess that for the same reason it feels like i'm a footstep away from leaving everything behind. I wonder how much I will change when i'm away from family and close friends of course its not like I will never see them again... but as they've helped shape who I am as a person up untill now I may change alot quicker than I think. But yeah pardon the sentiment! haha.
More importantly i'll be learning alot more about photography in the next few years so there may actually be some good work on here :O

The idea of this shoot was a series of Potraits of a girl visiting her school and remembering the things that were part of her normal activities as a child. The setting was my own and the person in the pictures real primary school so it was interesting to look around at the changes to the school remembering how things used to be and memories of our childhood there.

Soon I will be moving from blogspot to hosting my own website to present my work so for those who are interested the URL will be www.erikniemzphotography.co.uk . This will be the more professional site and I will hopefully incorporate a blog into it or keep this blog going.

I am currently applying for photography and hoping to be accepted into Nottingham Trent University in England ( if you are reading from outside the UK). Part of the application process requires me to present my work in portfolio form. For this I used the booksmart software from a site called www.blurb.com I have found it very useful and VERY good for money especially when you are ordering in Bulk. There a lot of places where you can make photo books but for me this is seen to be the most efficient and incredibly easy to use.

Originally I responded to Chloe Smith who captured a dark series of photos on a subjects fear of water. Only one photo of resonse I made was used in my work as a response to Chloe smith and I decided to edit this shoot again to make it more in my style. Although the black and white would contain the connotations of fear needed to express the subjects feelings towards the water surrounding her I decided to keep some colour in the images. I felt this helped keep the coldness of the enviroment contrasting with soft colours of the vunerable subject while allowing me to put my twist on the pictures.

As the title accuratly puts it is a small showcase of my work these pictures are in the reception at my college where, with some help from a teacher and a couple of hours mounting and nailing them into wall they were done. All the pictures are sold framed at £30 each the school I go to is Toothill school, Bingham,Notts, England.

Here are some photoshop works I have made from a photoshoot I took in a vintage fashion shop I tried blending in mixed colours into the photo to create more interesting tonal effects. I have also added some brushes to give the pieces a more graphic art feel. The person playing the guitar is from a different shoot.

In these series of pictures I have conveyed the emotional connection between people and religion more specifically the christian church. It was important that the subject was alone in these pictures because religion involves a personal connection between its belivers and spiritual being. The emptyness and lonlyness in the pictures emphasize the subjects need for religion and his fascination with the artefacts in the buliding.

These pictures are my own ideas for the subject of emotional links and connections. I have chosen a strong theme of death and how we still feel emotionally attached to those who have passed. I wanted to capture this sense of loss and attachments in these photos. My sister kindly offered to pose as a young girl who had lost a relative and visiting their grave. I was unsure of how to colour these pictures thinking that black and white would be an easy way out and i wanted to create a more diverse range of tones and strengths. As not every emotion conveyed had to be a negative bright and bold could be used.

Well new topic now for AS photograhpy which means new photographers to find, while browsing one particularly caught my eye of the name Edith Maybin. She has prodcued some fantastic digital work portraying the relationship between mother and daughter capturing the space and emotional connection between them perfectly. Because i was so inspired by her works I decided to attempt a response to her work based on my own mother and sister.

For these series of pictures I wanted to capture people who were alone in the street doing every day tasks. Inspiration was from photographer Jesse Marlow whose work was of a similar subject.

The themes for my work wil be quite simple to start off with, basic art elements such as pattern, line, tone etc. but as I complete these standard elements I promise that the subject for my work will develop and become interesting. Again a section required for the digital section of my Photography AS. The 2 pictures I have chosen are my favourites and I consider them to be most suited to the theme. A further point I must make is that these pictures do vary in the time I have taken them.I will work towards making the pictures I post recent ones to give readers an idea of my current work. Well this photo was taken a while ago took a while because it was my first time using the studio lights but it was so worth it and enjoyable the grapes and wine are fake and it was taken during my work experience at southnotts collage in nottingham. I used my digital camera (cannon eos 400d) At the moment I am brainstorming ideas for responses to some street photographers work and then the next blog will take a little break from photography while I get some new good photos. So here it is the result of 3 hours studio work.

The project for my digital section is themed on the street, this post contains a selection of a few pictures I took for it. These are not the final pictures for the project just a few pictures to start of the theme. I have used skate pictures for the street theme because skate culture and the sport is linked and is found mainly in the street enviroment. These are not all the photos jus my favourites. Adam is the skater in these pictures and I choose the subject looking over a city scape to differ from the skate theme. In all the photos i have humans in the picture because i think it was a good idea to see humans adaptaion and interaction with the street enviroment.
